About PackVerdict
What is PackVerdict?
PackVerdict is a real-time expected value calculator for Pokémon TCG booster packs. It answers a simple question: is it worth opening this product, or are you better off keeping it sealed?
For every set, PackVerdict calculates the average value of cards you can pull from a single pack, compares it to what you paid, and gives you a clear verdict. It covers 70+ sets across the Mega Evolution, Scarlet & Violet, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, XY, and Black & White eras.
How it works
The EV calculation combines two data points: the market price of every card in a set, and the probability of pulling each card from a pack.
For each rarity tier, PackVerdict multiplies the average card value by the pull rate, then sums across all tiers to get the expected value per pack. Compare that to your cost per pack and you know whether the math is in your favour.
You can select different sealed products — booster boxes, ETBs, tins, bundles, and more — and PackVerdict adjusts the calculation based on the number of packs in each product and the price you paid.
Where the data comes from
Card prices are sourced from the Cardmarket API, updated every six hours. Cardmarket is the largest trading card marketplace in Europe, so the prices reflect real EU market conditions. PackVerdict supports per-language pricing — English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese cards are all priced separately.
Card data and images come from TCGdex, an open-source Pokémon TCG database. Pull rates are compiled from community-sourced data, verified against large sample sizes from pack opening content creators and community surveys.
Why PackVerdict exists
PackVerdict was built out of frustration. Every time a new set dropped, the same question came up: should I open this or sell it sealed? The information to answer that was scattered across Reddit threads, YouTube videos, and spreadsheets that went stale within days. PackVerdict puts it all in one place, keeps it current, and does the math for you.
